Called Napoleon until 1873, the Place de l'Opéra was one of the great projects of the Second Empire in Paris. Very popular with tourists, it is now home to many businesses and haute couture stores.

Camille Pissarro was an impressionist painter specializing in landscapes. He played a key role in the new art movement by organizing independent exhibitions and inspired many artists such as Vincent Van Gogh.
